VJ Day

Friday 15th August 2025

Today marks the 80th anniversary of Japan surrendering in World War II, in effect bringing the war to an end. August 15th became known as VJ Day, chosen by the Allies 3 months after they had named VE Day, Victory in Europe day.

80 years on we remember all the British, Commonwealth and Allied Forces who bravely fought in the Far East without whom victory and the way of life we enjoy today would not have been possible. Their legacy should never be forgotten.
